Circular Arizona and Stardust partner to expand reuse and deconstruction in Arizona's circular economy

Mesa, Arizona — Circular Arizona proudly announces its latest partnership with Stardust, a Phoenix-based nonprofit that advances building material reuse through deconstruction services and affordable home improvement retail. This collaboration marks a powerful step forward in reducing construction waste, conserving resources, and expanding access to circular solutions in Arizona.

Founded in 1997, Stardust operates two reuse centers and maintains full-time deconstruction crews that salvage usable materials from residential and commercial renovations. Each year, Stardust diverts more than 5 million pounds of building materials from landfills, offering a compelling model for how reuse can drive sustainability, affordability, and equity.

"Stardust's mission to reclaim, reuse, and rebuild aligns perfectly with Circular Arizona's vision of a thriving, waste-free future," said Cristina Polsgrove, Circular Arizona's board chair. "Their expertise in deconstruction and commitment to community-centered reuse will help accelerate Arizona's circular economy in the built environment."

The partnership will promote reuse education, advocate for supportive policy, and help scale best practices in material recovery. Both organizations recognize that building material reuse is essential to reducing the state's landfill burden and unlocking new economic opportunities in the reuse sector.

"We're thrilled to join Circular Arizona's growing network of partners," said Karen Jayne, CEO of Stardust. "Together, we can raise awareness about the value of building materials, inspire more sustainable construction practices, and ensure that materials continue serving a purpose rather than becoming waste."

Stardust also emphasizes equity, providing low-cost home improvement materials to the public and creating pathways for more inclusive economic participation through reuse. Their work helps make sustainable choices accessible for all Arizonans.

This partnership was initiated by Karen Jayne, a Circular Arizona board member and CEO of Stardust.
